Find, Hook & Land an Agent

You’ve poured your heart and years of work into your manuscript. You’ve shared it with friends and critique partners. You’ve revised and perfected, and now you’re ready for that crucial next step: getting an agent to represent you in the world of traditional publishing. But where to start? Understandably, many authors find this process daunting at best and overwhelming at worst. The sheer number of agents to sort through, not to mention the conflicting pieces of advice, are enough to make anyone’s head spin.

Catherine Linka, author of the A Girl Called Fearless series, and Mollie Traver, book editor and former literary agency reader, are here to help, with an engaging workshop on how to FIND, HOOK and LAND an agent. Agent querying doesn’t have to be scary. We’ll break down this complex project into doable pieces, giving you a saner approach that you can start well before the manuscript is even finished and tackle gradually over time.

We’ll begin with how to research and identify agents who are most likely to respond favorably to your manuscript. Next we’ll work on crafting a tantalizing hook and writing a knock-em-dead query letter. You’ll come away with fresh inspiration, a deeper understanding of your manuscript and how to pitch it, and valuable insider information, like the seven critical elements of an agent query. Workshop includes written exercises, so participants should bring a notebook and writing utensil.

*Fee includes workshop materials, handouts, and a copy of Catherine’s book A GIRL CALLED FEARLESS or A GIRL UNDONE.
